Binhai New Area emerges new hub with advanced technology and business

China’s mouthwatering development is making one after another record, thanks to the tireless efforts of its nationals and government’s effective measures. Almost every nook and cranny of China is witnessing rapid growth in service and industrial sectors with robust economic activities. The major cities in China are already developed while the cities’ peripheral regions have also progressed quite impressively. In a recent trip to Tianjin Binhai New Area, a team of journalists from the Asia Pacific Region and some Central Asian countries shared their ‘wow feeling’ towards the system, development, infrastructures and town planning taken place in Binhai area.

Binhai New Area is located on the eastern coast of Tianjin, with an administrative area of 2,270 square kilometers, a coastline of 153 kilometers. According to the officials, the total population of the city accounts for nearly 3 million. However, there is a huge flow of peoples from different countries everyday due to the trade juncture.

More importantly, the newly developed Binhai possesses the first Free Trade Pilot Zone in northern China, the second National Comprehensive Reform Pilot Area and a National Innovation Demonstration Zone for the country.

Officials said that it is regarded as the “maritime gateway” for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei urban agglomeration for its location at the intersection of Bohai Bay economic rim and the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei urban agglomeration and its advantageous position in the eastern and coastal areas of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei. The Binhai New Area is 120 kilometers away from Beijing and falls within the “one-hour traffic circle” of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei urban agglomeration.

Tianjin Port, an important international integrated port which trades with more than 500 ports in more than 180 countries and regions in the world has added value to this city.

Furthermore, the Tianjin Binhai-Zhongguancun Science Park built by Beijing and Tianjin is an important innovative science park that depicts the modern development in the field of science. The Tianjin Binhai-Zhongguancun Science Park Management Committee officially listed on November 22, 2016 is a key platform for the industrial transfer in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei. It focuses on undertaking technological innovation, research and development as well as transformation of industries, and actively undertakes the relocation of Beijing’s non-capital functions.

Likewise, National Maritime Museum dubbed as the “Ocean Palace Museum” is a marine museum compared to the Forbidden City, Beijing. The only national-level comprehensive marine museum in China, the museum integrates collections, displays, research and education.

The National Maritime Museum opened on May for trial is expected to officially open to the public in June. Officials said that this museum shows that China is a big ocean country.

Immense research work on aquatic beings kept in display here could attract the scientists, researchers and students globally. They can have a very first-hand information about the sea creatures. With the full-fledged operation, the national maritime museum is likely to offer vivid ideas for ocean lovers around the globe, as well as abundant materials for China’s maritime research and protection.

Many a moments, China is also a place of miracles. Whether in soft power or the rest, China is steadily moving upwards. During the trip, we had a chance to visit the China-Singapore Friendship Library, a smart library with more than 400,000 books and other state-of-the-arts facilities to the readers. “The ultimate collection of the library will contain 1.5 million books and 1 million archives and now there are 110,000 archives as well as more than 2,000 reader’s seats,” an official said. Brought into operation just seven months ago, the library covers an area of 35,000 square meters and a building area of 67,000 square meters. Using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and robots to provide better a reading experience for the readers, the eco-city library and archives has attracted attention from readers worldwide.

Likewise, the trip to Tianjin Julong Jiahua Investment Group was an existing one to know how the enterprise was engaged oil trade and processing, and rose to prominence in the short span of time.

The company has established a palm plantation with a total area of nearly 200,000 hectares in Indonesia, and has three palm kernel crushing plants, two river port logistics storage bases and one seaport deep processing base in Indonesia. Julong’s bulk feedstock oil has entered the Indonesian, Indian and Korean markets.

The “China-Indonesia Julong Agricultural Industry Cooperation Zone” was also identified by the National Development and Reform Commission of China as a key project for the Belt and Road Initiative.

Similarly, the Binhai cultural center includes the Binhai Gallery, Binhai Discovery Center, Binhai Performing Arts Center, Binhai Citizen Activity Center Cultural Corridor and the world’s most beautiful library Binhai New Area Library. The design of the library and the symbols used in it reflect the limitless horizon of knowledge. In the library, a large scale ball in the shape of an eye is developed showcasing that the eye is a medium to see the world while the library is also the medium to make rational and logical aspirations.

These are the few representative examples that depict the progress the Binhai New Area in Tianjin. However, there are many more other multi-billion projects in Binhai that are continuing their business and supplying goods and services to many other countries thereby creating more jobs and contributing to the revenue generation.
